As the title says, I am definitely not an event photographer – but I do enjoy photographing some events, and sometimes things go well :-)

This past weekend was the fabulous Oceana Airshow at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It has been many years since I have been to an airshow, and my wife had never been to one. We decided this was the one to take her to, and had a fabulous day (along with about 150,000 others).

There were great flying exhibitions, as well as some really interesting exhibits on the ground. The theme was to honor Vietnam Vets, so there were special events for that purpose, and the ground exhibits were from that era.

The show was capped off with a wonderful flight demonstration by the Navy’s Blue Angels. I had seen the Blue Angels at a prior show, and knew that would be a great performance.
